A free newsletter by BJ Madewell DIAGNOSIS ADD ADHD Now What?
APRIL 20, 2003 HAVE YOU TRIED THIS? I am frequently asked about non-pharmaceutical treatments for ADDers. I, personally am PRO-MEDICATION for ADDers due to sensational results I have personally witnessed. Even so, I fully understand the hesitation to use stimulants expressed by many. Below are links for you to investigate concerning non-medication programs and devices that MAY assist ADDers. I have no connection with any of these websites other than having visited them and found the information possibly helpful for ADDers.
BRAIN GYM I was introduced to Brain Gym at a conference I attended way back in 1995. I've used some of their exercises with students but am not a "certified trainer" by any stretch of the imagination. The exercises are fun. Do they REALLY help? I don't know. Visit the site and decide for yourself. http://www.braingym.com/html/what_is_it_.html
INTERACTIVE METRONOME I am especially intrigued by this method/strategy. I have not used one but am hoping to try one out soon. http://www.interactivemetronome.com/IM_Benefits/
DANA I have a couple of AlphaSmarts that are used frequently by my students. We've had them quite a while. DANA appears to be a whiz bang new fangled device that does a lot more than the AlphaSmart units I'm familiar with. The AlphaSmarts I have are truly beneficial for all students - especially those that hate to write or have horrid penmanship. http://www.alphasmart.com/index.html
THANKS Many thanks to the 8 people who gave me a PITY PARTY recently. Your words of encouragement and jokes cheered me up. I'm continuing to try to complete all the #@* paper work. Thanks again for taking the time to write to me. Sometimes it seems like I'm wasting my time then .... shazam ... I get an email from one of you and I realize --- in a small way --- I seem to be making a difference!
IT'S YOUR CHOICE Visit the three sites. Try something else. If you keep doing what you've always done, you will continue to get the same results. PLEASE VISIT MY WEBSITE
