Being in Control

by Jason Mark Alster

I recently had the opportunity to read Jason's book. I highly recommend it as a graphic and text based reminder of "What to do" about being in control issues.

Quotes from the book cover below:

It includes natural techniques for increasing your potential and creativity for success in school. Also it is designed for "improving concentration and learning in children with ADHD and Dyslexia.

The book describes proven techniques in a visual and active way that also allows the parent or instructor to participate. The techniques .... comply with recent theories in educational research. This book is based upon years of research with accelerated learning, biofeedback, and yoga relaxation techniques.

This comprehensive, highly visually/graphic book has numerous easy to implement tricks, ideas and strategies for you to consider using w/ your ADHDer. The table of contents is a veritable "rainbow" of topics such as:

Concentration and organization

Affirmations

Proper nutrition

Using your imagination

Visual and relaxation exercises

The 5 senses

Breathing and self relaxation exercises

Games for focusing

Solutions for arguments

Self massage

Being creative

Managing time

Reading better

Better handwriting

Better math

Associative memory

How to pass exams

Jason's book is short, colorful and jam packed with strategies I have advocated for years. Don't be put off by the "meditating children" on the front cover. It is MORE THAN meditating although that is included. Each topic is discussed on one page. I would suggest you try out one strategy each week (or day if you are really ambitious). You will discover which activities work for your ADDer and which ones don't.

Jason contacted me about his book. I agreed to review it and pass on my thoughts about it to you. I am not affiliated with him or his book in any way and will not get a "kick back" from his sales.  I honestly feel this is a book worth taking a look at.
