SEPTEMBER 20, 2002 ABUSE & NEGLECT SURVEYPlease respond by October 5, 2002. Thanks a lot. The survey about DOES ADHD IMPACT ABUSE AND NEGLECT is posted at the end of this newsletter.
Teaching Organization to Elementary Students
At school, have all finished work put in ONE place. Encourage students to turn in assignments as soon as completed or provide a "finished work folder" to keep from hearing the proverbial "I did it, I just can't find it."
Provide color coded boxes, file folders etc. to help the organizationally challenged.
TEACH organization and provide time for students to apply what you teach. You may need to explain that the largest or thickest book should be on the bottom in a child's desk. At transition times leave ENOUGH TIME for students to put work away in an "unfinished - or -homework" folder ==== color coded of course. +++++++++++++++++++++ SURVEY Please respond by October 5, 2002. Thanks a lot. I am gathering information for my presentation at the 26th Annual Governor's Conference for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect It is October 16 and 17, 2002 in Topeka, Kansas. The title of my workshop is Does Attention Deficit Disorder Impact Child Abuse? Please take a few minutes to respond to my questions. It is my hypothesis that ADDers are more prone to inflicting and suffering from abuse and neglect. I need input from those of you "in the TRENCHES". Your input is VITALLY important to my presentation.
